Willie Nelson ist einer der größten Stars der Country Musik. Er wurde am 30. April 1933 im texanischen Fort Worth geboren. Zwar begann er bereits in den fünfziger Jahren Musik zu machen, doch zum großen Star wurde er erst Mitte der Siebziger. Bevor er selbst ein bekannter Sänger war, schrieb er Songs für Patsy Cline, Ray Price und andere. Die so genannte Outlaw-Country-Bewegung brachte ihn 1975 ins Rampenlicht. Einer seiner bekanntesten Songs aus dieser Zeit ist "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain". Heute wird Nelson von verschiedenen Publikumsgruppen akzeptiert und als Pop Ikone angesehen.
